My name is Sharwline Nicholson, I am a survivor of Domestic Violence and the Child Welfare System in New York City. I am the named Plaintiff in the class action lawsuit ” Nicholson v. Williams” or Nicholson v. Scopetta”. I speak nationally to advocate for women and children whose lives have been affected by Domestic Violence and Child Welfare. My concerns for others and commitment to impact change have led me here. I also have a love for writing and thought I would one day be that Journalist:) I am now journaling my personal thoughts and experiences. My work is super important to me because I get to share my story and hear others’ stories. I did not allow my pain to keep me down. I fought a good fight and here I am turning pain into power. The Domestic Violence rate increased during the pandemic and it struck me how much work is needed. I need to be a part of a change -to fulfill my purpose. I hope to motivate, empower, inspire and mobilize you to achieve a greater sense of meaning in your life.
